Start With People Who Already Know Your Name
Most partnership outreach fails because it starts with strangers. A Dream 50 list fixes that. It is a short, ranked list of the businesses you would most like to work with, built mostly from people who already know you a little.
Where to look
Open a spreadsheet and spend an hour going through these sources. Write down every business that serves actors.
- Blogs and email lists you subscribe to.
- Podcasts you listen to.
- Courses and products you have bought.
- Books you have read.
- Services you use yourself.
- People you have talked with in online groups and communities.
- Sites that already link to yours.
- Shows and blogs that have interviewed you.
- Your own customers who run businesses.
- Neighboring industries, such as voice work, modeling or filmmaking.
You will usually end up with far more than fifty. That is fine. The next step trims it.
Score each one
Add three columns, each scored from 1 to 5.
- Audience size. How many actors do they reach? A big podcast is a 5, a coach with ten private students is a 1.
- Your familiarity with them. Do you know their work well enough to suggest something specific?
- Their familiarity with you. Would they recognize your name in their inbox?
Add the three together. That total is your lead score. Sort by it and keep the top fifty.
Why familiarity counts as much as size
It is tempting to rank only by audience. But a mid-sized partner who knows you will say yes far more often than a large one who does not, and a yes from them is worth more than silence from a big name. The scoring keeps you honest about that.
Decide what you would trade
Next to each name, write one collaboration you could offer them and one you would ask for. Use the nine ways businesses that serve actors can work together as a menu. A specific idea in the first message is what separates a partnership pitch from spam.
Then reach out, in order
Start at the top of the list and contact five a week. A four-email outreach sequence keeps you consistent without being pushy. If some of your top fifty are already Actor Partner members, start with them, because the trust part is already done.
